Who We Are

Partnering to build a world where our young African American male youth can dream, achieve, and understand their worth.

Brother to Brother (BTB) is a nonprofit organization tailored towards African American male youth ages 8-18 in the District of Columbia (DC). This organization is designed to help young men grow, receive, and develop their emotional, social, and leadership development. We are looking to help these young men reach worthy goals and to become positive contributors to their communities. We are a program for the educational, social, emotional, and occupational guidance of young men from adolescence to adulthood.

Our Approach

We Facilitate a Safe Space

We are an organization that treats our participants, volunteers, and staff like family. Through this atmosphere we create a safe space for our participants to feel comfortable and to be who they are. We are accepting of all African American male youths to adolescence regardless of backgrounds, sexual orientation, religious beliefs, etc. We are committed to the participants success whether it be in the classroom or out in the world. Our participants will be able to contact their mentors at any time and about any issue whether academic or personal.

Our mentors are more than just people who will help our participants with their homework, they will be their brother, friend, and inspirational guide to help these young men reach goals beyond what they have imagined. Here at BTB we are dedicated to our youth which means we will fight for them and encourage them to always be better than they were yesterday.

— Our Story

Brother to Brother was created because we want to serve the young men of our community. Our president comes from a background all too familiar to the African American community and wanted to create a program that pushes our African American male youth forward in a world that consistently tries to hold them back.
